Weddings.

2nd Jan. 2010.

Some wedding days are remembered for parties, some are remembered for surprises, this is the first one I know that is remembered for its wedding!

It was late in the year of 2009, and snow is often known to come at that time, But really I’d like to say that just overnight, there was three foot of snow, which gave me a fright, But nothing shall stand in the way of this Church, they weren’t going to leave me left in the lurch.

Before breakfast began the path had been cleared, Hugh Fraser came with his tractor and everyone cheered. The rehearsal went on, no mistakes would be made, Anna conferenced in and plans were laid. The heating went on, the sunshine was ordered …. the hoover came out, the arrangements were sorted. Came the second of January it was the most beautiful day, Sandy Scott picked up Anna – it was the only way!

Some people said it was the beautiful setting that meant the wedding was not for forgetting. Others say the Kirk itself need nothing more, no more embellishments need to be worn. Many were asking to borrow the Minister, the service so absolute you could hear the past stir.

All of these things made it all so perfect, they said the 4 x 4 trek was every bit worth it.

So thank you Oxnam Kirk for this the most special of days Where the plans for sharing my life were made; What was important to me was he I did take And forevermore, as Anna said, with every snowflake.

Thank you to all at Oxnam Kirk who made my day what it was – particularly Mum!

30th June. 2007

Vanessa Hogg, Mounthooly and Jeremy Fawcett, Warwickshire

Oxnam Kirk and grounds were looking wonderful when a large congregation gathered on Saturday 30th June to witness the marriage of Vanessa Hogg of Mountholy to Jeremy Fawcett from Warwickshire. Anna led the service, assisted by the Reverend Richard Thomson, a friend of the bride and bridegroom who is primarily the Chaplin at Milton Abbey School in Dorset.

The service was both happy and moving with the congregation lifting the roof tops to four rousing hymms accompanied by David Sutherland from Jedforest Instrumental Band.

After the service the guests made thier way to Mounthooly for the reception and although it rained off and on during the day, the weather in no way dampened spirits.

The honeymoon was spent partly on a riding safari in the Okavango Delta in Botswanna and then on an island off the coast of Mozambique. The only real drama over the whole proceedings was that Vanessa has not seen her luggage since checking in at Edinburgh Airport. It must be assumed that her suitcase is now well and truly lost!

The Hogg family would like to thank Anna and all who were responsible for preparing the Church for what was a memorable service.

Col. Hogg, Mounthooly
